Barack Vows to Change the World is the headline from the above story.
Been thinking today about a lyric in the Rolling Stones song, Sympathy for the Devil which is, "I stuck around St. Petersburg when I saw it was a time for A CHANGE, killed the Czar and his ministers while Anastasia screamed in vain," which is obviously referring to the Bolshevik Revolution of 1917. Come to think of it, one of the main motivations for the revolution was their promise to pull out of the war, WWI specifically. It was anti-war hysteria that drove that movement for CHANGE. One hundred million people were murdered as a result. Not all CHANGE is good or for the better. When you hear people say, it can't get any worse, it can and it has in the past. Iranians who hated the Shah pray they didn't bring in the mulahs with the Iranian Revolution. That CHANGE didn't work out for them or the world. Ask any Cuban if they think Fidel is better than Bautista. I know Cubans in Cuba will say things are swell but they have a GDP that is lower than 50 years ago. Anyone who jumps on a raft or buick in the ocean to try to flee a hell hole should tell you they are fleeing a hell hole. The framers of our Constitution liked very very slow CHANGE. It takes often decades to amend the Constitution for example. Or that power is split between three branches the are often in conflict, slowing down CHANGE. Just keep this in mind as you cast your vote this November 4th and if you are supporting CHANGE, remember, you get to vote on the 5th.
