How About 52 weeks Off A Year?

You can. It's called unemployment or France for short.  France has had chronic unemployment for decades.  We are kvetching as we approach 9 percent. The French have had double digit unemployment for as long as anyone can remember.  Part of the reason is the restrictions, penalties if you will, that is placed on businesses for hiring anyone.  Mandatory vacation is one of those burdens placed on business in Europe.  In America, most employees enjoy 2 weeks off as part of their benefits package with their employers.  Some people get more based on number of years of employment.  The companies that don't provide vacation time generally don't because they can't afford to.  I run a small business.  I am the only full time employee. The reason? I can't afford to hire anyone else.  This also means that I usually don't get two weeks off a year.  My customers would leave me rapidly if they got a message,"sorry the office is closed while I vacation in Tahiti," frequently.  Mandating two weeks means adding an additional cost of at least 5% to every employee.  The cost could be more as temp workers may have to be brought in to fill positions.   There is a bill being sponsored in Congress requiring mandatory vacation time http://www.orlandosentinel.com/business/orl-bk-paid-vacation-grayson-052209,0,1637421.story .  This will only result in the reduction of incomes for current employees and the high likelihood of companies not filling positions lost to attrition.  What good will it for employees to have vacation time with no money to spend?  I think vacation is valuable but so is work.  Work is a gift from God and should be treated as such.  I have a good friend of mine who is leaving California for Arizona to go to school but probably isn't coming back. He told me today that California charges him $800 a year to maintain his Corporate status.  Arizona charges $50.   California has 11 % unemployment http://www.reliableplant.com/article.aspx?articleid=17852&pagetitle=Chart%3A+States+with+highest+unemployment+rates . Arizona has 7.7% http://www.azcentral.com/business/articles/2009/05/21/20090521biz-jobs0521online.html . Arizona is friendly to business. California is not.  If you make it difficult for employers to employ people, they won't.  You can't create prosperity by government mandate but you can make everyone miserable.

California Ballot Measures

Is it that time again?  It seems like everyone was voting for change they can find hope and believe in but got Obama Biden instead.  Anyway we in the Bankrupt State of California (opening soon to wider release in the rest of USA) have an election in a couple of weeks, May 19th to be specific.  The Governor, mostly Democratic legislature and a few turncoat Republicans duct taped a budget together temporarily for ratification by the voters in May.  It is now our turn to give our opinion on the budget that makes California #1......in taxation.  Can you imagine that people could flee California for New York to save on taxes?  The budget is deeply flawed.  Taxes were increased to over 12% on the rich. By rich we mean anyone who earns enough to afford a mortgage in the Tin Foil State.  Sales taxes are now over 10 percent in many cities throughout the state.  Car fees have doubled in the new budget as well.  If you are a car dealership, and you are thinking of ending it all by jumping out the window, just remember that everyone has one level ranch home in SoCal.  Today we cannot tell if the winds we are feeling are from the Santa Anas or are caused by the U-Hauls of middle class tax payers fleeing the state.  With every tax payer that leaves, that leaves one less voter to offset the millions of people who are on the dole and who vote.  By on the dole, I am not just referring to people on welfare, WIC, foodstamps, section 8 housing, etc.  I am also referring to the millions of public employees who got sweetheart deals by contributing to Democrats the state legislature and senate.  Public workers in the Tin Foil State can retire after 20 years with 75 percent of THEIR HIGHEST YEAR OF EMPLOYMENT INCOME plus medical benefits for life.  The City of Los Angeles may very well have to declare bankrupcy to deal with pensions that are out of control.  Pension costs within 5 years will be over $2 Billion a year.  That is a city budget, not a country's budget.

But there is something we can do about it. We can vote. We can tell our friends to vote.  Here are my humble recomendations: Measures 1a, 1b, 1c, 1d, 1e, 1f vote no. Your only dilemma should be how much pressure to place on the ink in the no box to avoid breaking the table.  I personally will be stabbing the ballot like Anthony Perkins in mom's dress in Psycho.  If you haven't seen the film, sorry for the plot spoiler.

Tell all of your friends.  Don't fall into "it's for the children" argument you will hear inevitably.  The children aren't helped if mom and dad are unemployed.

UPDATE : Come join me and hopefully a lot of others for a Tea Party in Westwood at the Federal Building on Wilshire against the ballot measures 5/17/09 3-6pm.

I Took You at Your Word Mr. President

That you were a Christian  despite coming to that faith in a church lead by a racist pastor who professes beliefs not contained in either the Old nor New Testament.  I took you at your word.  There were some encouraging signs like your choice of America's pastor Rick Warren to lead the prayer at your Inauguration. Unfortunately it has been downhill from there.

First you pursue a radical abortion agenda which started with your public funding of embryonic stem cell research and continued with your support for the Freedom of Choice Act http://www.cbn.com/cbnnews/593014.aspx . Under the Orwellian named FOCA, Doctors and Nurses have the freedom to lose their jobs if they refuse to perform abortions.  Previously these people were not coerced into violating their faith by performing abortions. Not any more.

Then you went to Georgetown and had the Christian symbols covered while you spoke http://blog.newsweek.com/blogs/thegaggle/archive/2009/04/17/obama-at-georgetown-wwjd.aspx.

Then you go to Turkey and go out of your way to point out that America is not a Christian nation http://www.lompocrecord.com/articles/2009/04/24/opinion/042409c.txt) and owes much to Islam is the shaping of it http://www.tribune-georgian.com/articles/2009/04/24/opinion/letters/01letter4.24.txt . While there are many wonderful Americans who happen to be Muslim, there is really no historical evidence for Islam shaping the nation.

Finally  today I heard that you will not be attending the National Day of Prayer breakfast http://www.washingtontimes.com/news/2009/may/06/prayer-day-no-show/ which has been a tradition for many years.  True, Bill  Clinton opted out but I suspect that was due to his fear of lightening strike for showing up.

America is not a Christian nation in the sense that it has a state religion and we do have separation of church and state.  But the nation is a Judeo Christian nation meaning it was founded by Christians primarily with a deep understanding and appreciation for  the Old Testament.

If Mr. President you were an athiest or a Muslim, you should have campaigned as such.  My problem is not as much with you but with people who claim to be Christians but reject much if not all the tenants of the faith.  I think Mr. President you are one of them.

The Korean Taco Truck

Those of you not in Los Angeles, have no idea what I am talking about. The Korean Taco Truck http://kogibbq.com/ has become a local phenomenon in the past few months. The business consists of two trucks and a stand alone restaurant in Culver City http://www.alibiroomla.com/home.php .  The concept is simple, put Korean barbecue on tacos, in burritos, and in quesadillas. Mark and Caroline Maguera started the business just four months ago when Mark was confronted with an impending layoff from his job.  He had to think of something to do and do it quickly. They did.  They brought in a Korean chef, Roy Choi to come up with the food and seem to employ their entire family in various areas like web design and public relations.  They marketed their product using the internet sensation Twitter http://twitter.com/ .  That is how I found them. Someone that I followed on Twitter was following the truck. Twitter enables the truck to send followers updates as to where they will be and at what time.  They started out operating the trucks at night because they had day jobs according to founder Caroline.  They put the trucks outside Los Angeles nightclubs where people can line up and get some grub and sober up waiting for food after an evening of well I guess clubbing.  They have been featured on Nightline and on local Los Angeles news http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=R-rH19j-AGI .  The unpredictable nature of the truck visits increase the excitement around the taco truck.  People line up at 200-300 at a time.  The truck often has to leave with people still waiting in line or just runs out of food.  They are doing so well they are expanding routes and are purchasing a third truck.  I have had three times now. It is good.  I hope to make it a regular event.

What is the point of this post?  It is this: Mark didn't go on unemployement or wait for some government handout.  There is no stimulus money anywhere involved in this business. Someone had an idea and went for it.  This is the greatness of America.  This can and does happen here, for now.  If we unleash the ingenuity of the American people and untie their hands from burdensome taxation and unnecessary regulation, there is no limit as to what they can achieve.

Oh Canada

Full disclosure.  I love Canada and more specifically I love Canadians and even more specifically, I love a Canadian, namely my wife.  Canadians, except my wife and the great Mark Steyn, love Barack Obama, worship may be more accurate.  My wife had to buy for her mom Obama t shirts for her 75th birthday this month. It was painful for my wife to hit click and place that order.  No it wasn't any of these : http://www.cafepress.com/BOTeleprompter .  Not only do I think the love, adoration, worship is unfounded.  I think it may be a disorder.  It may be a sign of Stockholm Syndrome.  Obama constantly does nasty things to Canada and they love him even more, like a girl with an abusive boyfriend, Canadians seem to lap it up.  First Obama wanted to unilaterally renogotiate NAFTA http://www.msnbc.msn.com/id/30109308/.  Then the stimulus excludes foreign  vendors (including Canadians) http://www.independentfreepress.com/news/article/68166. And now, Janet Reno the Sequel, Napolitano blames Canada for 9/11 http://www.ctv.ca/servlet/ArticleNews/story/CTVNews/20090421/USA_Border_090421/20090421?hub=TopStories and tries to draw some equivalence between the two borders, "a border is a border."  I'll buy that when Canadians are beheading people (not counting hockey accidents) and when we have a flood of Maplebacks floodiing south (again exlcuding actors and hockey players). Canadians are wondering "how she got her job?" http://www.nationalpost.com/todays-paper/story.html?id=1520295 . To sum up our Canada policy under Obama : http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=nYSYipouABI

This brings me to my point.  I propose a two part trade.  First, we swap Vermont for Alberta straight up.  Vermonters would feel more at home in the more liberal north and Albertans are basically Texans with snow and hockey. We can sell it by getting them to corner the maple syrup market completely.  Second, since PM Harper is against stimulus spending and keeping his budget in balance, and Obama is........sorry I was laughing......not, we could swap Obama for Harper.  It is better for America, Canadians would love it.  It is a win win.

New Interrogation Techniques

Now that Obama http://www.msnbc.msn.com/id/30335592/ is going to prosecute members of the Bush Administration for offering advice as to what is and what isn't torture and therefore what interrogation techniques would be allowed and not allowed, we must find new ways to interrogate prisoners that has yet to be determined as actual torture.

So I was thinking of some ways of making prisoners talk :

1.) Yoko Ono recordings - This may date me but 1/2 of Double Fantasy and I'll confess to anything. Ditto for Garrison Keilor.
2.) Gibbs Press Conferences - Prisoner must be forced to watch hours of press conferences by the President's Press Secretary.  At the rate of one meandering answer per 1/2 hour or so, this would mean about 4-5 non answered questions.  Mohammed "why doesn't he answer the damn question?  What was the question?  I have no idea what he is talking about!!"
3.) Barack Obama Sans Prompter. http://baracksteleprompter.blogspot.com/  http://iowahawk.typepad.com/iowahawk/2008/09/hey-barack.html If we added a small electric shock every time the President blamed Bush for something or said, "ummm" it would definitely violate the Geneva Convention.
4.) Have Obama cabinet people calculate their income taxes.  This will surely result in an audit. The only way to avoid further IRS scrutiny is to confess or get appointed to the cabinet.
5.) Be forced to listen to Air America because someone has to.
6.) Sleep Deprevation is now not allowed so I may be able to report my two children for violating the Geneva Convention. But we can make detainees watch children's television programming.  They may not confess but will recycle.
7.) Be forced to work most of the year with the government confiscating their earnings. Wait, that is only reserved for tax payers.
8.) Be forced to sit in Los Angeles traffic at rush hour.
9.) Be forced to watch at least 1/2 of the Academy Award nominated shows in an given year.
10.) Be forced to be Cubs fans and suffer lifetimes of disappointment.

That is all I have for now but am open to suggestions : republicanevangelical@gmail.com.  I'll be posting your suggestions along with more of mine later.

Thinking of Going on a Diet

Like much of the rest of us I have put on some weight around the middle over the years, particularly after my two children arrived.  Since I know I am going to be dieting soon I plan on splurging on peanut butter chocolate ice cream, Korean Taco Truck Burritos  http://kogibbq.com/, maple fudge, lots of cookies, both peanut butter and maple (my favorites), Double Double's from In and Out http://www.inandout.com/ and whatever suits my fancy.  After which I will begin my diet and have set a goal to lose 2 ounces.  Ridiculous you say?  That is what Obama did with his budget cabinet meeting yesterday http://www.washingtonpost.com/wp-dyn/content/article/2009/04/20/AR2009042000641.html .  First he committed to spending trillions of dollars and pledges to cut 100 million.  I heard it explained this way. Say your family has a $100,000 budget and you have a family meeting to immediately figure out how to cut $2.68 from the budget.  Why engage in such a ridiculous exercise? First, the press.  Remember we don't have an independent press except Jake Tapper http://newledger.com/2009/04/loven-and-tapper-vs-gibbs-the-instant-replay/ .  We have a PR firm working for Obama and the Democrats.  Every news story was about Obama cracking down on government spending.  Secondly, he wanted to take the steam out of the Tea Parties http://www.teapartypatriots.org/ which are gaining momentum across the country.  If anyone hasn't seen this CNN reporter in action at the Tea Party, you should http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Anm99yEkvxE .  Third,  Obama wanted to give the impression that government spending isn't wasteful by asking agencies to cut such a small amount and the result was an offer to save on office supplies.  If my family were looking for ways to cut spending and the only thing I could find is using low grade toilet paper, that would imply all higher elements of spending had already been cut.  Unfortunately America appears to buying the BS so on second thought, I'll buy extra toilet paper and a shovel.

Tea Tax Parties

I haven't been blogging much because life and a mild, sometimes severe addiction to twitter has interfered.  I would like to encourage everyone and everyone you know to get involved in the TeaTaxDay movement.  There are tea parties springing up all over the nation partially inspired by Rick Santelli http://www.reteaparty.com/ and his righteous rant on the floor of the Chicago Mercantile Exchange on CNBC Live.  The movement has grown like wildfire on the grassroots level through Facebook, Twitter and other social networks.  The point is to get involved.  Many who were involved in the civil rights movement of the sixties were glad they marched and were involved.  This is our moment.  Our country is being destroyed at a rapid pace and if not stopped now, it will be too late.  The country that we love and were given by our parents, grandparents and all the way back to the Founding Fathers, will be gone.  The last best hope for mankind will surely vanish.  Sure there may be a geographical USA but it's essential character of a nation of free people will be gone.  Huge budget deficits and a coming explosion of entitlements including health care will turn the citizenry into a nation of dependents and slaves. To quote Mark Steyn http://www.steynonline.com/ it redefines the relationship between the citizen and government to one of junkie and pusher.  We are the richest, greatest nation on Earth for a reason.  We are about to destroy what is great about our nation.

Please get involved.  Two big days are next week, April 15th and July 4th.  If you live in California you can find out about TeaParties here : http://taxdayteaparty.com/teaparty/california/ .  Nationwide you can check here : http://www.teapartyday.com/ .  There are other sites that you can find on google and other search engines.  Facebook and twitter have tons of organizing groups as well.  I am going to Santa Monica in the afternoon and Van Nuys in the evening of the 15th.  Maybe I'll see you there.

Please feel free to forward this to anyone you know that may want to join in.

Susan: It looks like the closest to you is in El Segundo.

It's Been a While Since My Last Post

I have been busy with life and spending what little time I have on twitter.  Follow me there as GOPEVANGELIST.

Some things have occurred to me in the past couple of weeks:

If the President wanted to give the Queen something he truly loved, something that means more to him than even Michelle, he'd give his teleprompter. http://baracksteleprompter.blogspot.com/

If he wanted to give the Queen something that would provide her with endless amusement, he'd give her Joe Biden. Why not? He's not doing  anything now and judging by the mess of foreign policy so far, what he is doing isn't helping.

Ask yourself why pro-choice people get so upset when people choose life. Answer they aren't pro-choice, they a pro-abortion. My wife had four miscarriages before my daughter was born. Didn't lose one fetus but lost four babies. Maybe if we can convince Obama our enemies are fetuses, then he would oppose them.

If we applied 1/2 the restrictions on voting as we do on gun ownership, Democrats would never win another election.

We have best medical care in world and we are going to destroy it. Kinda like Hugh Grant going for Ms Brown over girlfriend Elizabeth Hurley.

You can't equalize incomes by raising up the poor but you can by making everyone poor.

What is the Austrian word for in over your head? http://www.foxnews.com/story/0,2933,513595,00.html

You might be a liberal if.......

You might be a liberal if you think health care and college will get cheaper with even more government control.
You might be a liberal if you care more about equalizing outcomes and incomes than uplifting poor people's lives.
You might be a liberal if you think the rich aren't paying their fair share.
You might be a liberal if you think you show tolerance by condemning Christians.
You might be a liberal if you think GM will be better off with Obama in charge.
You might be a liberal if you think you can talk to and charm evil.
You might be a liberal if you don't think Pelosi and Reid are embarrassments.

"When people stop believing in God, they don't believe in nothing - they believe in anything."GK Chesterton. Meet Obama, the anything.

Banks aren't allowed to return TARP. The devil doesn't do returns even if you save the receipt. http://www.cnsnews.com/public/content/article.aspx?RsrcID=46351

Remember when the Senate was called the cooling saucer and the most deliberative body? That was with GOP in charge. Now not so much.

t amazes me that the two people chosen to repay the debt of slavery, segregation and Jim Crow are OJ and BO.

Did anyone else catch this in NYT? Basically they credit Hitler's stimulus spending with helping the German economy. http://is.gd/qBVo
I would add killing the Jews and taking their wealth helped too.

I want the world to fear us and not like us. Not the other way around. The world loved us 9/12 when we were on our back. We got up.

Why do you think it Obama is having such a time picking a dog? Do you think his dog choices owe back taxes?  Maybe Obama should look for a Republican dog because clearly all the Democratic ones have tax problems. Maybe Obama's choice of a dog is linked to the middle class tax cut and both will never appear.

Is it too late to limit voting to property owners over 25?

Republicans don't believe in high taxes but pay them. Democrats believe in high taxes but don't pay them.

Well those are some of my rants on twitter from the past two weeks or so. I better quit before this sounds like a Larry King column. OOPS too late.

I Thought Sinatra Was Chairman of the Board?

I am sure by now you heard that the President has fired the CEO of General Motors today.   I am disturbed at the chutzpah of this President. He won an election for sure but was elected President and not dictator.  Nevertheless he is behaving as such by moving full steam ahead on bankrupting the country, nationalizing health care, trying to destroy the housing and private charity with the reduction of charitable and mortgage deduction, and for suggesting he should have the power to fire executives and take over control of companies UNRELATED TO WHETHER OR NOT THEY RECEIVE FEDERAL FUNDS. Now this. http://townhall.com/news/business/2009/03/30/gm_ceo_wagoner_to_step_down_at_white_house_request

Look the American auto industry has problems. Most of them revolve around non-realistic union contracts with the UAW that include retirement plans that are unsustainable. I have heard that every worker at GM is supporting 6 retirees. That's almost as bad as social security. Speaking of which, why does anyone think the federal government and more specifically Barack Obama and Democrats in congress and the Senate can do a better job than people who actually make cars. Obama was presented with a budget deficit of around 400 billion plus 700 in one time TARP charges. He turned that around and is proposing a budget of 3.6 trillion with trillion dollar deficits for as far as the eye can see despite soaking the rich to "close the gap." Does he want to do the same for GM?

I was thinking about whom Obama will appoint as the new CEO of GM, considering Obama's past record in picking people like in his cabinet (I love this joke : What's the difference between Obama and Jesus? Jesus knew how to build a cabinet), I think he'll pick Joe Biden. "No one messes with Joe," said the President at the sort of State of the Union address early this year to a chorus of disturbing laughter.  People were definitely laughing at Joe and not with Joe. "Two hundred years ago President Washington told General Motors...." I can't wait for the soundbites.

Private Charity Vs. Government Handouts

Obama continues his war against the private sector.  This time he has his sites set on private charity.  He wants to reduce the tax deduction for the wealthy who give to charity.  Wealthy donations is what charities rely on to meet their obligations and help people. Sure your dollar you drop in the Salvation Army bucket is greatly appreciated but new centers are built with checks of 10, 20, 100 thousand dollars from wealthy donors.  Obama wants to put a stop to that.  http://www.washingtonpost.com/wp-dyn/content/article/2009/03/24/AR2009032402462.html .  Never mind that even charities with a high administrative overhead like United Way use a higher percentage of the operating budget actually helping people (versus eaten up by bureaucracy) than government.  It doesn't matter. Private charities don't try to foster dependence.  In fact the opposite.  The goal is to get people off them and on their own. This is no good if you want to control them and their votes.  Something interesting I noticed though.  The National Service Bill http://thecaucus.blogs.nytimes.com/2009/03/23/national-service-corps-bill-clears-senate-hurdle/ has cleared the Senate and will probably pass the House easily where there is no 60 percent rule, and be signed by the President.  This bill costs $6 billion dollars.  Of course its costs will escalate. But in a nutshell, we are going to pay private "volunteers" to do work that has been done by private charity.  Yes we are going to be taking away from charities in the form of the reduction of the charity tax deduction and funnel that money through some government bureaucracy and ultimately pay off some volunteers to do charity work.  Does this make any sense? Of course not if you are just using logic or are concerned with what works.  No, it does make sense to those who want to control EVERY FACET OF OUR LIVES.  This is the bottom line.  Once you understand this, everything about the Obama administration and the Pelosi House and Reid Senate makes perfect sense.

Where Have I heard This Before?

As reported here http://www.powerlineblog.com/archives/2009/03/023070.php you can read the quotation, "The fundamentals of our economy are strong."  I know it sounds familiar but this time it comes from an Obama Administration official.  Why you are thinking about that one how about the decision to tax health care benefits? http://www.nytimes.com/2009/03/15/us/politics/15health.html?ref=politicsAgain, this time from the Obama Administration.

Give up? Yes, of course, previously these were previously mentioned by John McCain and he was publicly ridiculed by Obama and his cohorts in the liberal media.  Now of course, it is a good idea.

You must understand that Obama and the leftists behind him want to make this country into a socialist state.  When you understand that point, all other things make perfect sense. For example, why would Obama want to tax charitable donations?  Because he doesn't want private charity, he wants dependents on the government largess who will continue to keep them in power.  Why does he want to tax mortgage interest? Because he wants to keep housing depressed.  Why?  Because first he doesn't believe in private property as any good leftist wouldn't.  Also, people owning homes is for many a ticket to wealth, private wealth.  Again, he wants the government in control and not individuals.

Ban Lifted On Federal Funding of Embryonic Stem Cell Research

He did it. I know he would.  I wrote about this back in November and my opinion hasn't changed.  http://republicanevangelist.blogtownhall.com/2008/11/10/obama_plans_to_reverse_bush_policy_on_stem_cell_research_and_off_shore_drilling.thtml . Other posts I wrote on Obama and the abortion issue : http://republicanevangelist.blogtownhall.com/2009/01/26/family_planning_our_way_to_prosperity.thtml and http://republicanevangelist.blogtownhall.com/2009/01/24/elections_have_consequences.thtml .  Anyone who is pro life who voted for Obama and the Democrats, shame on you.  Articulate black people can support the killing of human life too.

Although I would add another constituency to the groups that President Obama will never betray, teachers unions.  Even my wife cheered the President taking a stand about merit pay for teachers.  http://www.mlive.com/news/grand-rapids/index.ssf/2009/03/president_obama_pushes_merit_p.html . Unfortunately I told her it is meaningless. He gives great rhetoric and often says the right things but signs laws that run contrary.  Remember that moment in one of the debates, it may have been Rick Warren, where Obama says he was wrong about opposing welfare reform and that it has been a good thing in retrospect?  Well Obama and the Democrats gutted it in the trillion dollar stimulus bill signed into law last month. http://www.kansascity.com/273/story/1046780.html . He and the Democrats just ended the DC voucher program despite it's nominal costs and enormous benefit to black children in DC.http://www.google.com/hostednews/ap/article/ALeqM5jA4O8gRWYpVPgR3bcCSphalW1qRgD96REDO81 The program which was a huge success enabled poor children in DC to go to private school and have their tuition paid by the program.  Why end it? The teachers unions didn't like it.

Remember the no lobbyist pledge? http://www.americanthinker.com/blog/2009/03/obama_breaks_his_n_lobbyist_vo.html .  Broken. Remember the no pork pledge? http://www.forbes.com/feeds/ap/2009/03/11/ap6154899.html . Now there is good pork and bad pork.  I am not sure where the McRib falls on that spectrum.

The point is you judge someone by their actions and not their words and his actions speak loudly as to who he is and what he believes.

P.S. I am not writing as much here because I am writing more on Twitter. Follow me there. I am GOPEVANGELIST.

Teleprompter

http://www.powerlineblog.com/archives/2009/03/022985.php Our President needs a teleprompter to announce a cabinet appointee.  Apparently he refuses to go anywhere without the old crutch. http://www.politico.com/news/stories/0309/19663.html He probably dissed Gordon Brown and skipped the joint press conference because the teleprompters would stand out too much. http://www.politico.com/news/stories/0309/19571.html .  Here's an oldie but a goodie from Iowahawk : http://iowahawk.typepad.com/iowahawk/2008/09/index.html

http://townhall.com/news/politics-elections/2009/03/05/fact_check_obama_tax_hikes_a_matter_of_words?page=2This does not factor in huge tax hikes coming to pay for his health care plan.  That will be massive.  By the way his spending cuts are closing loopholes for businesses and individuals.  That isn't a spending cut but a revenue increase.  But Obama is a proven liar.  Earlier I had posited the question that Obama must be either a liar, naive or stupid to explain why he didn't know about Reverend Wright, Bill Ayers, fill in the blank.  Evidence is in.  It is the former.  I marvel at those like Christopher Buckley and David Brooks who now have second thoughts about Obama, that he isn't who the they thought he was. He was and is a radical leftist.  As it says in the Bible, you will know them by their fruits.  He has a record of being a radical leftist in terms of his voting record and his associations.  That people believed he was something different could only be chalked up to their own delusions.  His goal is to destroy the America as we know it and reshape in his image under his control. The real question is can we muster the American people to stop it before it is too late.  There is a point of no return and national health care may be that point if we haven't crossed already.
