Now That it is Too Late to Do Any Good

Mark Halperin of Time Magazine blasts press coverage of Obama during the wet kiss that was the 08 campaign. http://townhall.com/blog/g/0e76fac9-4489-433d-aea6-0b2feec7859c and to his credit, he did mention it in October when in theory it could have done some good http://newsbusters.org/blogs/noel-sheppard/2008/10/19/halperin-media-bias-campaign-doing-democracy-disservice .

I should compile a list of press stories condemning themselves for biased coverage after they got their guy elected.  This is comparable to letting a bank robber keep the money because he said he was sorry.

How Will President Obama Govern?

One sign is he is going hard left is his plans to rescind Bush signed executive orders

My suspicion is that he is doing two things here: 1.) testing the waters like my daughter tests me to see how far she can push before I push back and 2.) throwing some red meat to the hard left like moveon.org who got him elected. http://hotair.com/archives/2008/11/09/obama-to-target-bush-executive-orders-in-first-days/

Now this bothers me.  Apparently the meeting with President Bush didn't go well and involved hand sanitizer.  Here is the story from Foxnews  http://elections.foxnews.com/2008/11/09/bush-obama-meeting-hard-feelings-hand-sanitier/#
and it reminded me of a Demotivator Lesson from Despair.com. http://www.despair.com/disconfirmation.html .  I doubt the truth of the hand sanitizer story but the fact it came out at all shows the pettiness of Obama. It isn't enough for him to win, his enemies must be destroyed.  Also it shows a fundamental weakness of the left.  The Republicans have problems uniting their three factions : social conservatives, economic conservatives, and military hawks. The Democrats are comprised of disaffected groups who only share a status of victimhood and an intense hatred of Bush.  Many on the right were driven insane by Clinton.  The same can be said of Bush and the left but even more so.

Who Songs

I was at the Who concert at Nokia Theatre Saturday night.  This reminded me of a piece a couple of years ago in National Review called Rockin' the Right listing the best conservative rock songs http://nrd.nationalreview.com/article/?q=MmYxMjJmNzdkNzBmYWU2OGIyMTZhYWE5ODFlY2RmMmY= and We Won't Get Fooled Again is #1.

On that note I thought of a few Who songs that would apply to the current election and political climate :

Baba O'Reily containing the lyric "teenage wasteland." Enough said.
The Real Me containing the lyric "Can you see the real me? can ya? can ya?." To quote Bob the Builder and Barack the Taxer, "Yes we can."
The Punk Meets the Godfather containing the lyics, "We tried to speak between lines of oration. You could only repeat what we told you." and "We're the slaves of the phony leaders. Breathe the air we have blown you."
Finally, the #1 conservative hit We Won't Get Fooled Again containing numerous lyrics like, "we know that the hypnotized never lie" and "meet the new boss, just the same as the old boss." Let's hope we don't get fooled again in 2012.

You Have Chosen Poorly

as told in the third of the Indiana Jones films.  I was trying to think of historically poor choices.  My current joke is this is the worst choice since the people yelled, "Free Barrabas." But that got me thinking. Surely there are other examples of people making poor choices in history.  I was thinking about the record exec who passed on the Beatles saying that guitars are on their way out.  Actually making a poor choice is better than making no choice at all if you are a leader.  "If you choose not to decide, you still have made a choice." Rush the group not the Limbaugh.  Barack up until this point has been unable to make choices that may make him look bad or hurt him politically. This is the only way to explain 132 "present" votes in the Illinois Legislature.  His one big choice has been Joe the Biden, something for which we will be eternally grateful as a constant source of humor during the next four or possibly God forbid the next eight years. Since the VP is traditionally sent to funerals, I can't wait for him to ask for Chuck to stand up to find out he is six feet under. Anyway regarding poor choices, I am open to suggestions.  Feel free to post yours. I am assuming that during the recount Senator Coleman will prevail over Al Franken. If not, that would go up to the top of the list, past the Beatles even.  If you are going to choose your Senators from Saturday Night Live, please pick someone who is at least funny.

And for humor check out this REAL headline from CBS MARKETWATCH

Hilarious   [Jonah Goldberg]

Michael Graham forwarded me this. From CBS MarketWatch:

Saving the Republican Soul

This is a great essay http://www.spectator.org/archives/2008/11/05/now-seize-freedom/print by Thaddeus McCotter. I recommend everyone read it.  Included here is :

What are the Republican Party's principles that will be employed to meet and surmount these challenges? We have five enduring principles:

1.    Our liberty is from God not the government.
2.    Our sovereignty rests in our souls not the soil.
3.    Our security is through strength not surrender.
4.    Our prosperity is from the private sector not the public sector.
5.    Our truths are self-evident not relative.

The Bear is on the Prowl

Russia is flexing its muscles now by placing missiles near Poland. http://afp.google.com/article/ALeqM5ggfxIuaTvlw_-Y7iitLGqs0J92FA

Good thing we have a community organizer at the helm. Maybe he can get people to register to vote in exchange for smokes.

I may sound bitter and honestly I pray Barack Obama is a good President. The times are perilous and I love my country.  But Americans chose so poorly in this election. As I said earlier, this is the second worse choice since the people yelled, "Free Barrabas!!!" If we are attacked on our home soil, something that President Bush has avoided for over seven years, the stock market will tank and the economy may be devastated. But the world will love us now, they love us on our knees.

The Assault on Israel is Just Beginning

Did I mention that Obama's church, the one he went to for 20 years, the one who married him, baptized his daughters, openly supported Hamas?

http://yidwithlid.blogspot.com/2008/11/hamas-prepares-for-obama-fires-35.html

Remember God's promise to Abraham in Genesis 12 : 1Now(A) the LORD said[a] to Abram, "Go from your country and your kindred and your father’s house to the land that I will show you. 2(B) And I will make of you a great nation, and I will bless you and make your name great, so that you will be a blessing. 3(C) I will bless those who bless you, and him who dishonors you I will curse, and(D) in you all the families of the earth shall be blessed."[b]

Pray for Israel, pray for America, I fear our abandonment of Israel is beginning.  We were warned.  American's cared more about their 401k(s).  People wanted change. They got it.

Money Can't Buy Happiness

But it can buy elections.  Look a lot of people will blame John McCain for this loss but it may have not possible to win for Republicans.  We had a perfect storm in many ways. There were so many winds in the face of John McCain but let us consider a few:

1.) Money- John McCain kept his pledge to take public financing and therefore limited his spending. Barack broke his promise to take public financing (the first of many broken promises to come) and therefore could outspend McCain many times over.  He was able to bury McCain in ads in the battleground states in particular and even fight McCain on red turf.  Many of the ads were flat out false but it didn't matter, McCain didn't have the money to buy ads to refute them.  Which brings me to disadvantage #2
2.) Press Coverage- I have never witnessed a campaign where the press was actively working for a side.  The press always favors Democrats but this time, they basically used Obama press releases as news stories. They NEVER investigated Obama fully or thoroughly or even a little.  The American people knows precious little about who Obama is.
3.) Economy- Even though the downturn was caused by Democratic medling in markets, particularly in the financial sector.  Forcing banks to lower standards for minorities to get them homes and then covering the debt with the full faith and credit of the US in the form of Fanny and Freddie was not a good idea and caused our current crisis.  Since the press was and will continue to work for the Obama campaign, the narrative of Republican deregulation caused the crisis will stick.
4.) War in Iraq- Ironically since the war took a turn for the better, it enabled the American people to focus on other things and to take seriously the idea of a community organizer in chief.
5.) War on Terror- Again, Bush fought this fight so well, Americans think we don't have a problem any more.
6.) Young and Exciting vs Old and Cranky - Not fair but the perception is everything in an American Idol age.
7.) Race- Barack was able to energize blacks to register to vote and to vote in record numbers merely by his candidacy.  Many whites voted for Barack because he is black to prove they aren't racists and to heal the racial divide.  This was helped by the Obama campaign bludgening everyone who disagreed with them by using the race card at every opportunity.  I include the press as part of the Obama campaign. My favorite was the AP saying attacks on Ayers is racist.
8.) Hatred of George Bush - Mostly irrational but real.  People would blame him for a pet dying.  Obama was able to cast McCain as running for a third Bush term.

American Idol Elected President

and I emphasize idol.  Believe or not, I do not wish Barack Obama to be a failure as President as I love my country too much.  I know that he will be.  I can't see a scenario where he would not.  The only positive I originally thought may result from an Obama Presidency is that it will help race relations but alas this will become worse too. When Barack fails and loses the support of the American people, Black people will perceive an attack on him is because of racism and therefore an attack on them.  The reason why Barack will fail as President is because he wants to change back to policies that have been tried and have been dismal failures. The other reason why he will fail is that he is never run anything successfully, other than running for office.  Once elected, he would start his run for the higher office. There is nothing higher until we get a President of the World position.  He ran a couple of foundations in Chicago into the ground. He had the ability to turn hundreds of millions of dollars into nothing without anything to show for it.  Remember that movie Brewster's Millions http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0088850/?  Richard Pryor had to spend 30 million dollars within 30 days and have NOTHING TO SHOW FOR IT as terms of his inheritance. This is what Barack did with his foundations but presumably not on purpose. There are so many negatives coming I can't put them all down here but will over time. I am wiped out physically and emotionally but will pray for Obama and my country because that is what I am commanded to do.
