Obama Thanks the Gracious Press

Obama states that there has been some friction between the press and Obama which I have not seen unless he means the friction involved in lovemaking or by friction he means worship.  Perhaps that the press didn't actually do human sacrifices to Obama.......yet.

Some Good News to Report

Michael Barone the poll guru has this take on national vs. state polls http://www.usnews.com/blogs/barone/2008/11/4/national-polls-favor-obama-state-polls-trend-toward-mccain.html?s_cid=rss:barone:national-polls-favor-obama-state-polls-trend-toward-mccain . In other words, a wider margin for Obama in the blue states is meaningless.

Jim Geraghty on early voting results in Colorado http://campaignspot.nationalreview.com/post/?q=ZDgxYjNlMzNlMDhlNGIwMWNjODYwNjUxY2UyZWM3YTU= In other words, the Democrats didn't do as well as they anticipated.

and James Pethokoukis has his take in US News and World Report : http://www.usnews.com/blogs/capital-commerce/2008/11/4/4-reasons-why-mccain-might-win.html

Just Voted

Long long line of hope and change people even a moron ex Republican who thought he knew everything about everything and in bizzaro land he did.  I was wearing my T Shirt that says, "If we give in to terrorists, then the Democrats will have won." A poll watcher there was concerned about my shirt.  I told her I would take it off and go skins if everyone in the parking lot would remove their hope and change stickers.

I fear the American public today will make the worst choice between two people since the crowd yelled,"free Barrabas!!!"  It isn't close in terms of character between these two people.  The people are electing American Idol in more ways than one.

My friend Dustin on the trip to Vegas said that the problem with democracies is the people can always vote to end it.  Hope that doesn't happen today.

Proverbs 24

 21My son, fear thou the LORD and the king, and mingle not with them that are given to change;

22for their calamity shall rise suddenly, and who knoweth the ruin of them both?

I heard a black caller to Bill Bennett this morning cite this verse. Praise God this guy didn't drink the coolaid.

Today voter fraud will probably be rampant.  Here is from Mark Steyn :

And so it begins...   [Mark Steyn]

Re Dixville Notch, several readers point out that the town has 19 registered voters.

Yet 15 voted for Obama and 6 for McCain. Which adds up to...

You gotta admit that Acorn operation's pretty thorough.

Fall of the Republic?

THE FALL OF THE ATHENIAN REPUBLIC... "A democracy is always temporary in nature; it simply cannot exist as a permanent form of government. A democracy will continue to exist up until the time that voters discover that they can vote themselves generous gifts from the public treasury. From that moment on, the majority always votes for the candidates who promise the most benefits from the public treasury, with the result that every democracy will finally collapse over loose fiscal policy, (which is) always followed by a dictatorship."

"The average age of the world's greatest civilizations from the beginning of history, has been about 200 years. During those 200 years, these nations always progressed through the following sequence:

From bondage to spiritual faith; From spiritual faith to great courage; From courage to liberty; From liberty to abundance, From abundance to complacency; From complacency to apathy, From apathy to dependence, From dependence back into bondage."

The origin of the above quote is unknown.  It has been wrongly attributed to Scottsman Alexander Tytler.  The truth contained above is undeniable. How will we choose today? Will people vote to continue to be free or back into bondage?

Thoughts on Tomorrow

Here is a memo from McCain campaign regarding exit polling. I urge you to read it prior to tomorrow : http://www.drudgereport.com/flashmm.htm

Basically our only hope tomorrow for a McCain win is that the polls are wrong.  If they are wrong about the election in general, why would the exit polls be any more accurate?  Michael Medved was discussing poll methodology today.  Basically pollsters don't know how to gauge turnout among groups: Democrats, Republicans, Blacks, Whites, Catholics, etc.   For example, according to Michael, Gallup says 97% of black vote are for Barack and 1% for McCain.  Blacks vote traditionally about 80% DEM/20% REP. In the last cycle it was 89%/11% split.  It may very well be higher but factoring nearly zero black support for McCain seems like too much.  Also, never underestimate the power of peer pressure among ethnic groups.  Many black people may tell pollsters they are for Obama to not want to be seen as an Uncle Tom by the black community.  Some may very well pull the lever for McCain tomorrow.  The same thing may happen with union workers in Pennsylvania and Ohio.

Bottom line is don't freak out if you see bad numbers tomorrow. No matter what they are going to look bad and we have a shot tomorrow with most of the battleground states even or 5 points or less down.

I was going to put up a post about bad things to expect in an Obama administration and in the country as a result but I am going to hold my powder and hope that I don't have to post it.

One final thing.  Regarding individual candidates down ticket, vote the Republican ticket straight down the line.  In Vegas many people were voting for McCain but didn't care for Congressman Porter.  I told them that Titus may be a fine person but a vote for her is a vote for Pelosi.  She will caucus with Pelosi and Pelosi will set the agenda.  This is the mistake many in the South who voted for pro life Democrats in 2006 helping to elevate Pelosi to Speaker.  It didn't matter that the candidates are pro life, Pelosi and the Democratic Party is not and individual representatives have very little power individually.  Their power is as a group and the group leader. So if you have to hold your nose or have a stiff drink to vote for a particular candidate or McCain himself, do it, the Republic depends on you.

Back from Vegas

Exhausted. Wish I could have stayed longer.  Was offered to stay a few more nights comped by the Republican party.  Knew I did all I could do and knew I had to go home....rode hard and put away wet.

Regarding polling, here is some encouraging news : 1.) IBD has it again 2 pt race.http://www.ibdeditorials.com/series13.aspx?src=POLLTOPN  2.) The Pew poll showing a blowout for Obama was an oopsie, my bad. Their miscalculation is now corrected an a 16 point Obama lead is now 6.

Jim Geraghty from NRO has some information for his friend he refers to as Obi Wan. http://campaignspot.nationalreview.com/post/?q=M2QyMjZhMzkyMDAzYzdhNzFjNTA0NjhmZDRlNjE5MTc=

We will know more tomorrow.  Basically I see it this way. If it is a blowout for Barack as the polls sometimes indicate, we will know Tuesday night especially if BO wins Pennsylvania, Virginia and Colorado.  McCain needs two out of the three at least.  If things go our way, it will be a very close election and we may not know a winner until Wednesday or later.  Remember 1960 and 2000. Both elections were close. Nixon the loser in 1960 didn't want to drag the country through a long drawn out decision, conceded. Al Gore in 2000 didn't, at least for a while.  I don't think Barack Obama or more importantly those who back him either covertly or overtly like Moveon.org, would allow it.  It is sad is the best scenario we can wish for is turmoil.

Pray for this election that "thy will be done." Pray for this country.

Henderson Baby Henderson Part Deux

We took off this morning early at 6am and after training we were hitting the road around noon time Vegas time. We had to hurry back to hear a speech by Rudy Giuliani to fire up the volunteers. I got a few photos of Hizzoner but alas didn't get a photograph and really wanted to get out there.  The second run in the day we were much more productive. We broke up the book in sections among three people and were able to hit over 100 houses. Most people were not home but we got to some undecideds and were able to make a brief case to them.  Tomorrow should be a better day for canvasing. Interesting thing to note. Barack has been spending tons of money here paying canvas workers 13-15 per hour to do what we are volunteering for.  I think we have the beat in the enthusiasm gap.  We shall see what happens Tuesday but I needed to be in the fight giving it my all or I couldn't live with myself.

Off to Vegas

I am hopeful that Mac can turn this thing around. It is close. It looks like I am being tailed by Barack. He is going to be in Vegas today.  I would relish a Joe the Plumber moment with him but suspect that Axelrod has slapped him sufficiently and handed him back his script. In the meantime check out Thomas Sowell where he makes the case that the reason Barack has never done anything and failed and therefore doesn't have any humility. http://article.nationalreview.com/print/?q=NzVlOGMzYzhlN2M4MmI5OThjZmU2OGY1Yjg0ZTVkMmY=

This Aint Over

I do believe if this election were held a week later, McCain would win by a decent margin. All the momentum is in Mac's favor as they seem to have finally found their voice in Joe the Plumber's simple question to Obama that was answered candidly.  Namely, he wants to redistribute wealth.  It is going to be close and about 1/10 of America has already voted and those ACORN folks will likely vote a couple of times or more.  Check out Zogby as reported from Drudge : ZOGBY SATURDAY: McCain outpolled Obama 48% to 47% in Friday, one day, polling. He is beginning to cut into Obama's lead among independents, is now leading among blue collar voters, has strengthened his lead among investors and among men, and is walloping Obama among NASCAR voters. Joe the Plumber may get his license after all...

George

Let me tell you about George.  I know George because George is a retired Customs inspector who I think worked for Customs for 30 years.  In his youth he was an Army Ranger who served in the Korean War, the Forgotten War as it is sometimes called.  George is well into  his seventies but chooses not to retire completely and works part time for a local warehouse.  George is a lifetime Democrat. George is a Mexican American. George is for McCain. George has lived a life to know what is real and what is not, to know who is someone of substance and who is "full of sh*t."  George thinks Obama is full of sh*t.  George didn't go to graduate school to figure that one out. He lived a life.  A life lived hopefully gives you wisdom and hopefully the ability to spot "bullsh*t." Let's hope the rest of America figures it out by Tuesday.

Ballot Measures in California

First of all, for those of you living outside of California, let us be a lesson to you.  Do not let happen to your state what has happened to California. California is and has been lead by a very very left wing legislature and now for a few years a pretty liberal Republican. This will change next year when we either elect Villaraigosa (cheating on his wife will not stop his rise to the Governor's office) or Gavin Newsome, Mayor of San Francisco.  You'd never normally get me to say this but given the two, I would actually prefer Villaraigosa. It is a choice like do you want death by firing squad or by hanging? But there you are. Notice I didn't mention the Republican. That is because the Republican Party is almost irrelevent in California.  Many have left to greener and lesser taxed pastures with more reasonably priced housing in other neighboring states.  I know Arizona, Nevada, Colorado you'd like to send us Californians back, and we'd take them.

Given that California is broke because of Democratic rule that would make drunken sailors blush, I am starting with the propostion that we cannot afford it.  Given that I am voting no on all statewide initiatives except 4, 8, 11, and 12.

Prop 4: Parental Notification. Parets must be notified 48 hours if their minor daughter seeks an abortion. They do not have to get consent, just notified. My friend Ken pointed out that why is it a 14 year old girl needs parental permission to get earrings but a 13 year old can have a medical procedure like an abortion without the parents knowing.

Prop 8: Marriage is Man and a Woman only.  Can you imagine even 10 years ago we would need to put it in a ballot initiative?  The reason is an overactive judiciary that find rights wherever they wish.  If this does not pass, Gay marriage will sweep the nation.  This may not bother many of you but do understand marriage will be radically changed.  Our children in schools will be taught at a very early age that marriage between two men and two women is the same and equally preferable to the man and woman marriage of their parents.  Crazy you say? It is already happening in California.

Prop. 11: Redistricting. This takes redisricting away from the legislature and gives it to a panel.  One of the reasons California's Democratic party is so left and the country is blessed with Pelosi is because the districts are drawn to guarantee elections by the party who drew the districts.  Therefore the districts are extreme and have very lopsided ratios of Democrats to Republicans. We as normal people, anyone to the right of Bill Ayers are forced to use the ballot initiative process to get anything done and circumvent the idiots in the legislature.  Honestly, this is a case where it can't get any worse.  Keven James said last night, he'd be for this measure if , "Vladamir Putin" was drawing the districts.

Prop. 12: Bond measure to assist returning veterans with purchasing homes in California. Debt owed. Enough said.

There may be local initiatives in each city our county worth mentioning but the above are just state wide measures.  Good luck and happy voting.
